Gerald Cournoyer discovered his passion for art later in life after attending the Marty Indian School in South Dakota and serving in the Marines. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned a Masters of Fine Arts and his work focuses on Oglala Sioux spiritual practices. Cournoyer was the 2014 recipient of the National Museum of the American Indian's Artists Leadership Program award.Interviewer
